A vanitas - a criticism of the 1% globally who own nearly 47% of all wealth. The squirrel symbolises a hoarder, stashing away more nuts than he needs. The cat is the hunter of souls. The buttercups reference a fairy story about a miser who wouldn't share his money with the fairies. they cut a hole in his bag of gold and as the coins fell the fairies turned them into buttercups so the miser was unable to find them.
